Hey, I’m Alex!
I’m a documentary wedding photographer based in Vancouver.
For more than 10 years, I’ve been photographing people during the moments that quietly shape their lives — weddings, celebrations, the in-between glances that often go unnoticed but mean everything later.
Because that’s really what photography is about.
Not just what something looked like,
but what it felt like to be there.
A wedding day moves quickly. Emotions run high, people gather from different seasons of your life, and suddenly, all of those threads come together in one place for a few short hours.
Weddings are full of movement, emotion, and fleeting moments. I pay attention to the quiet ones that often pass unnoticed but hold the most meaning.
Nothing staged or over-directed — just an honest record of how the day actually felt.
If my work moves you, know this—I’m already invested.
my Approach
Most couples tell me the same thing when they reach out:
“We want our wedding to feel natural.”
I feel the same way about photographing it.
My work is rooted in documentary photography — observing rather than directing, allowing the day to unfold as it naturally would while quietly documenting what’s happening.
When guidance is helpful, especially during portraits or family photos, I’ll step in with simple direction so things feel easy and relaxed.
But the heart of the day always belongs to you.
The goal is simple:
Photos that feel honest.
Photos that feel like your wedding.
What it feels like to work together
After many years of photographing weddings, I’ve learned that the best images appear when people feel comfortable enough to forget about the camera.
Couples often tell me afterward:
“I barely noticed you were there.”
That’s exactly the point.
Weddings can be emotional, unpredictable, and occasionally chaotic. Experience helps.
You’ll have someone beside you who is:
• calm when timelines shift
• organized when things move quickly
• present enough to notice the small moments happening around you
My role is to give you the space to experience your wedding while ensuring those memories are preserved.
A little about me
I was born in England and later immigrated to Canada. With a Filipino mother and a British father, my life has always been shaped by a mix of cultures, perspectives, and traditions.
That background influences how I see people — with curiosity and openness.
My wife Michelle and I are raising our daughter’s Amaia & Malaya here in Vancouver. Becoming a parent has only deepened my appreciation for how quickly time moves and how powerful photographs can be when years start to pass.
Outside of weddings, you’ll usually find me:
• collecting vintage film cameras
• wandering through thrift stores looking for design books or art prints
• searching for good coffee
• exploring somewhere new with my family
I’ve always been fascinated by people and the stories they carry.
Photography is simply the way I’ve learned to pay attention.
Why this work matters
Weddings are filled with moments that feel small in the moment but grow more meaningful with time.
The way your partner squeezes your hand during the ceremony.
The way your friends erupt when the music starts.
The way your family looks at you across the room.
Long after the flowers are gone and the music fades, those photographs remain — quietly holding the story of that day.
Being trusted to document those memories is something I’m deeply grateful for.
If my work resonates with you
I’d love to hear about your plans.
Tell me about your wedding, your people, and what you’re dreaming up. If it feels like a good fit, we’ll take it from there.
An anthology of my charming idiosyncrasies
I’m not weird; I’m a limited edition ;)
I’ll spend 30 minutes picking a movie, then fall asleep in the first 10 minutes.
Michelle and I are the ultimate travel duo. She’s the planner, I’m the dreamer, and together we’ve turned getting lost into an art form. Our arguments over map directions are basically a love language.
Amaia is our tiny, chaotic masterpiece. Equal parts adorable, hilariously silly, and deeply committed to making sure I never sit down for too long. We’re raising a tiny adventurer curious about everything and everyone, and honestly, we couldn’t be prouder.
My family photos are a mix of chaos and love. Michelle’s always mid-laugh, Amaia’s usually making a silly face, and I’m just there trying to capture it all before the moment slips away.
I’ve learned that the best souvenirs are the stories. That time we got caught in a rainstorm in Australia? The night we danced until sunrise in Samoa? Those are the memories I treasure most.
At the end of the day, I’m just a curious soul with a big heart and a suitcase full of dreams. Whether I’m exploring a new city, dancing at a concert, or laughing with my family, I’m always chasing the magic of connection—and finding it in the most unexpected places.
My brain is 80% creative genius, 20% “Where are my keys?”
I’m the Marie Kondo of vintage treasures, except instead of sparking joy, I spark chaos with my ever-growing collection of film cameras, vinyl records, rare design books, vintage art prints, or quirky trinkets, I can find beauty in anything and everything.
My travel bucket list is longer than a grocery store receipt, and I’ve somehow managed to turn every trip into a scavenger hunt for the quirkiest local thrift stores. My suitcase is 50% clothes, 50% “I swear this vintage lamp will look amazing in our living room.
I’m not addicted to coffee; we’re just in a committed relationship.
I’m obsessed with the way people live their lives. From the way a grandmother in Italy rolls pasta dough to the way a fisherman in Thailand mends his nets, I’m endlessly fascinated by the small, beautiful details of everyday life.
I’ll drop everything for a sunset, a good playlist, or free snacks.
If there’s a shortcut to happiness, I’m definitely taking it—just not the one everyone else takes.
I’m excellent at keeping my plants alive... mostly by accident.
